Addax U13 Diary - The Last Day
Sadly after a wonderful week it is time to say good bye to the boys from Addax RFC. Sites have have been seen and rugby played but most importantly Great friendships have been formed between the children at Papplewick School, the staff and Parents and all those involved in Addax. Will Ferguson say's an emotional farewell.

In the afternoon we all went to the school swimming pool and tried to teach some of the boys to swim. Steve Elkington showed the boys his wonderful collection of snakes, spiders and frogs. I was impressed that the boys handled them so well.

We had a fantastic farewell dinner at Papplewick to celebrate what has been a triumphant tour. The food was delicious and the speeches were inspiring. I am very proud of the 10 Addax boys and of my father for setting up Addax R.F.C. But this tour and its success would not have been possible without the love and support of Papplewick School’s headmaster, boys and parents. We also thank Andy Berry and touraid for all their wonderful support. I know the Addax team will miss this incredible school and its delightful boys. I witnessed 10 sad faces leaving the airport today because I know they had the time of their lives with many special memories that will stay with them for ever.

When they first arrived I had the honour of working closely with a group of shy scared boys, when they left I said goodbye to a confident group of young men. We will miss you very much boys. Bossa!

This tour has been such a success that touraid will look at the Papplewick/Addax tour as a model of excellence as the pupils, parents and staff (teaching and support) opened their arms to these boys in the most incredible way. Papplewick has a very special environment
which is predominantly down to the leadership and Headmaster Tom Bunbury has been the driving force behind the success of the tour.
The seeds have been sown on this tour and the relationship between Addax Rugby Club, Papplewick and touraid are expected to grow into something very special providing continued support to children in the Niger Delta Region of Nigeria.

touraid would like to thank the boys, parents and staff at Papplewick and everyone involved in providing 10 boys with the chance to tour for a week and learn for a lifetime.
