Ambassadors

touraid is delighted to have six high profile players involved with the charity -Mike Catt, Danny Cipriani, Chester Williams, Sue Day, Mike Phillips and Serge Betsen.
Each of them has played rugby at the highest level and experienced the enjoyment and pleasure that the sport delivers. touraid is grateful to them for giving up their time to support us.

      CattProfile

Mike Catt MBE
London Irish, England & British and Irish Lions
Mike joined touraid as our first Ambassador in July 2006 and has actively supported and championed our work with disadvantaged children ever since. Mike grew up in South Africa before joining Bath and then London Irish. A World Cup winner in 2003 he continues to excel for London Irish as player/coach where his authority, skill and subtlety can flourish. Any Google search for Mike will reveal his popularity and generosity as well as his bad dress sense (according to Will Greenwood).

CiprianiProfile

Danny Cipriani
Sale Sharks & England
The London Wasps outside half a risen through the ranks of age group rugby and after some stellar performances in the 2007/8 season was rewarded with his first cap. Danny's career has not been plain sailing however; as he suffered a horrific ankle injury in May 2008 keeping him out of England's summer tour and the early part of the 2008/9 season. The former Whitgift pupil has shown great determination to overcome his injury and returned to international duty against the Pacific Islands in November 2008. Danny's rugby ability and star quality look set to him at the forefront of the game for many years to come and to that end touraid are delighted that Danny has joined the team as an Ambassador.
DayProfile
Sue Day
Wasps & England
Sue began playing rugby for BUC Barcelona in 1994 and, after gaining a Blue at Oxford University in 1995, went on to play for Wasps, where she has remained throughout her rugby career. She won her first cap in 1997 against Spain in the Five Nations. She is a versatile player who is as equally comfortable on the wing, in the centre or at fullback. Sue has 59 England caps and has played in the last three Rugby World Cups. She is England's top try scorer with 61 touchdowns. In this year's Six Nations, Sue captained the team to back-to-back Grand Slams. touraid is pleased that she has chosen to support us as an Ambassador.
mikeamb Mike Phillips
British & Irish Lions
On the pitch, Mike Phillips' overwhelming list of achievements includes his selection as the scrum half for the British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa this year, where he achieved phenomenal acclaim as one of the outstanding players of the tour.
Born in Carmarthen, Mike made the squad for the 2007 Rugby World Cup and featured heavily in the RBS 6 Nations in 2008 and 2009. At just 27 years of age, Mike has a promising future in rugby ahead of him and will no doubt be a key player in the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand, as well as in the forthcoming Heineken Cup for his team club Ospreys and in the 2010 RBS 6 Nations series. Mike remains committed to reaching out to youth and strengthening the community, therefore he is delighted to join touraid as an ambassador and is looking forward to working on some of the charity's forthcoming projects.
WilliamsProfile
Chester Williams
South Africa & Western Province
Chester won 27 caps for his country and would have won many more had he not had cruel luck with injuries. His appearance opposite Jonah Lomu in the 1995 World Cup final was undoubtedly the highlight and he has become an icon and role model for millions of Africans ever since. Since retiring, Chester has coached the South Africa 7s team, Uganda and the Pumas. We are privileged and honoured to have his support as our Ambassador for Africa.
Serge

Serge Betsen
London Wasps & France
touraid are delighted to announce that current wasps and ex-french international star, Serge Betsen has agreed to become an Ambassador for touraid. Serge has always supported the development of youth rugby through his own charity The Serge Betsen Academy helping children in Cameroon. touraid and Serge look forward to working together and assisting each other in the development of future tours.
