touraid would like to say a big thank you to John Cullen, the BSFRC Committee and all those at the Rugby Club who helped make this week such a success.  The club had a huge marquee where they held arts and crafts, a fun day and BBQ for the Royal Wedding and music night  to mention just a few events which took place. There was also a day trip to London where the boys enjoyed a river cruise, a visit to the House of Comomons and the London Eye.
Then of course there was the rugby tournament held on the Saturday involving 10 teams from from UK Rugby clubs and the boys from Tlamelo and Banunule.
Both groups were a credit to their coaches with the Banunule Boys coming second just missing out to the winners Richmond RFC.

Special thanks to Ian ‘Indiana’ Walker for his efforts to ensure the boys made the trip. The Chairman of Kyadondo RFC in Kampala was indebted to Helen Feathers and Chris Feist for their extraordinary help and support at the Visa office in Nairobi to secure the documents to travel. Without their team’s engagement this tour and the dreams of so many would not have happened.

‘Simply incredible,’ said Ian, ‘One cannot thank the UK Visa section enough or the amazing Ethiopian Airlines for holding the flight to ensure the boys made the trip!’

William Blick, President of the Uganda RFU commented,

‘On behalf of URU I would like to thank you for the work you are doing with the Banunule kids. It’s fantastic and its once in a lifetime experience for the kids.’

‘We are already carrying out impact assessments on the children to ensure that touraid and BSRFC are fully aware of what they have done to support these children and the many others in Uganda.’

touraid hopes that the BSRFC community take up the invite from both Banunule and Tlamelo to visit the boys very soon.
